Navigating the vast world of Elden Ring often requires Tarnished players to uncover secret locations hidden behind complex puzzles and key items. Among these secretive zones, the Hidden Path to the Haligtree serves as both a dungeon and a vital gateway leading toward the Consecrated Snowfield. Understanding how to access and clear this unique area ensures you do not miss valuable collectibles or optional boss encounters along your journey.

Gathering the Secret Medallion Halves

To gain entry to the dungeon, adventurers must first retrieve both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion scattered across the Lands Between. The right half is given by Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics, hidden under a disguised pot in southern Liurnia. Meanwhile, the left half resides at the peak of Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants, guarded by Commander Niall.

Once both pieces are secured, travel directly to the Grand Lift of Rold. When standing at the platform, toggle your action prompt to hoist the secret medallion instead of the standard medallion. This action triggers a cutscene that takes you straight to the entrance of the Hidden Path to the Haligtree.

Exploring the Upper Chambers and Main Exit

Inside the location, players immediately face aggressive Vulgar Militia enemies stationed along narrow corridors. The primary route leads upward through large staircases past several Land Octopuses guarding valuable upgrade materials like Grave Glovewort. Heading straight up these stairs eventually leads out into the fog-filled Consecrated Snowfield.

However, players looking to fully clear the zone should take time to inspect the central architecture. A broken railing along the main staircase marks the starting point for invisible walkways suspended over the abyss. Dropping down onto these invisible platforms grants access to lower balconies and secret storage chambers filled with rare items.

Unlocking Secret Rooms and Optional Bosses

Navigating the invisible paths leads players to hidden levers and dropped loot, including powerful defensive talismans. Pulling the lever located near the northern wall unseals the heavy heavy doors at the bottom of the catacombs. This grants access to an optional boss fight against the Stray Mimic Tear.

Defeating this boss rewards players with unique spirit ashes and key items needed for secondary questlines. Afterwards, you can easily exit the lower chambers using the nearby lift or teleporter to return to the surface. Thoroughly exploring this interim dungeon ensures you are well-prepared before venturing deeper into the dangerous northern snowfields.
